Opening: Donas, Archipenko & La Section d'Or

03.10.2025

Exhibition design, Antwerp/ BE

For the first time, an exhibition shows the central role of Antwerp-born artist Marthé Donas in the international avant-garde, alongside the work of her partner at the time, Ukrainian sculptor Alexander Archipenko. Surrounded by masterpieces by artist friends such as Mondrian, Modigliani, Goncharova and Vassilieff, the oeuvre and story of this forgotten leading lady offer a glimpse into a modernism that is colourful, groundbreaking and surprisingly gender-diverse.

Aslı Çiçek's exhibition design takes its inspiration from the elegance of Donas' works and her sensitive use of colours. After the festive opening on 3 October 2025, the exhibition will be on display until 11 January 2026 at KMSKA, Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp.
